Maple Glazed BBQ Chicken
During the summer months, many of us find ourselves relying on the BBQ as our main method of cooking, it helps to keep our houses cool, but let’s be honest, it also seriously reduces the amount of cleanup we have post-cooking and that is the BIGGEST bonus!
This simple maple glaze marinade takes just minutes to whip up and is sure to please the family. Plus, we are being budget conscious and are using drumsticks in this recipe to maximize our dollar but to also maximize flavour!
Ingredients
The Salad:
2 lbs Chicken Drumsticks, skin on
3 tbsp Avocado oil
1/3 tsp Sea Salt
1/3 cup Maple Syrup
1/3 cup Tamari or Soy Sauce or Coconut Aminos
4 stalks Green Onion (sliced)
directions
Turn your BBQ on and let it warm up to medium-high heat, between 350-400F.
In a large bowl coat the chicken in avocado oil and salt. Give it a good mix to make sure the chicken is coated evenly.
In a small bowl combine maple syrup and tamari, whisk together and set aside.
Once the BBQ is preheated bring your chicken out, be sure to have a clean dish to transfer cooked chicken onto. Cook chicken for 10 minutes before flipping. Once flipped begin basting the cooked side of the chicken with your maple mixture.
After another 10 minutes flip your drumsticks again and based them with more maple mixture. Continue basting and flipping chicken for another 5-7 minutes, until the sauce begins to caramelize.
Before removing from the heat check for an internal temperature of at least 165F or 79C. Remove and let it rest for 5 minutes before digging in. Serve with your fav BBQ side dishes.
